A Letter to Donors to the Florida Frontier, by Editor-in-Chief Bryan Griffin

Fighting the Liberal Media on UF's Campus Since 2006.

Now more than ever, it is important that the students at the University of Florida be informed with both sides of the political spectrum. Now that the Democrats control both the White House and the Congress, we must remember and remind our posterity the importance of discourse and cooperation in forming public policy. Conservative ideals cannot be forgotten, and as prominent conservative student leader on campus, we wish to keep supporting those tenets and reiterate the philosophy of the power of the individual through our writing. I cannot express how critical it is an answer to the overwhelming leftist bias be established and maintained on campus. My staff and I are ready and willing to fight this fight, but we must receive the funding to do so. Please help us inform our fellow students about the dangers of a big and liberal government. Please support the Florida Frontier.

The Students at the University of Florida who believe in the conservative cause, stand behind America's troops, and are willing to fight the overwhelmingly liberal media bias need your help.

The Florida Frontier was founded on August 27, 2006, by a group of University of Florida students who aim to represent the ideals and beliefs of American conservatism both to the student body of UF and residents of the Gainesville area. We exist to provide the student body with a just representation of issues and ideas that are indispensable to a robust higher education. We strive to promote the true principles of individual liberty and personal responsibility; these motivate and compel us to educate and promote change in the current political thought. In order to achieve these goals we shall:

  1. Educate and Motivate: We will be fair and honest in everything that we print. We will present stories that are topical and important for our readers from both the campus and community, and reveal the failure of the established press.
  2. Express and Promote: We will provide an avenue for greater diversity of expression on campus. The Florida Frontier will offer an alternative forum to address major problems and issues on and off campus that have not received proper attention from other publications.
  3. Commit to Excellence: We will work at the highest standards of journalistic accuracy and integrity. We will maintain a constant state of intellectual honesty that will be evident in each edition that we print.

This year, we have a number of new students writing for us, from freshman to seniors. We now have five distribution boxes. We started with two. We have enough material to easily print two issues a month, or more, and the manpower to get it done. The motivation, skill, and involvement is all in place, and ready to "fight the good fight" as we call it, against the defeatist left. We have an established printer, J and S Printing from Kentucky, and a school-wide readership. Our members and students across the campus have submitted articles about conservative topics they feel strongly about, and we have a number of issues waiting, ready to be printed and distributed. However, without the money to print, we cannot produce our publication. The cost to print is $1100 to $1500 an issue, verifiable with the printing company. We would like to request a donation to support our magazine through the upcoming year, as our government shifts left, let us not forget the conservative ideals that make our country great and free.

Sincerely, Bryan Griffin
